Two Old Rocking Chairs

Two old rocking chairs
Were they once some old couples?
Holding hands into their twilight years
The husband smiling
As he shares his “wisdom”
The woman smiling
Thanking God she is deaf
Or were they once on the porch
Of a college house?
Beer, weed, and rain
Ingrained in the wood
As fires were lit
In the streets
After losing football games

Things, like nature
Have no memory
Creeping steadily to the dumpster
No matter who sat there
All one day, long way, one day off
Eventually space dust
