Bernie Sanders Destroys Jim Inhofe On Climate Change
The above link had a really great video where Bernie Sanders does a great job of stating the facts on climate change, especially when standing up to Jim Inhofe who is a shill for the fossil fuel industry.
Kochs Kill Medicaid Expansion
The above article is from Salon and it is about how the Koch Brothers helped to kill Medicaid expansion in Tennessee and other states, essentially denying healthcare to many. If you look at the numbers in Utah between what passing the Medicare extension would have done, vs. what was done, it is mind boggling. Medicare expansion would have insured 146,000 people at the cost of $236 million dollars. The plan the Republicans are backing costs $203 million dollars and only covers 16,000 people! Something isn’t adding up? Read the article to see the conclusion.
However, it is clear that the Koch Brothers are enemies of our democracy. From healthcare to the environment to education, the Koch Brothers ideology is destroying real lives. In turn I can’t help but see what they do as real crimes that deserve real punishment.
Keystone XL and Its Corrosive Effect on Democracy
This is a great article about the realities of the Keystone Pipeline. It is not only horrible for the environment, devastating in its impact on climate change, but it should also be known that most of this oil would be sent overseas.
Koch Back Network Aims to Spend Nearly $1 Billion in 2016
The above article is a Huffington Post about how political advocacy groups connected to the Koch brothers are projected to spend nearly a billion dollars on the 2016 election. If you wonder how we can have a Senate where almost 50% of Senators believe that human behavior does not contribute to climate change, among other senseless beliefs, look no further. It is fucking troubling…
The Blame for the Charlie Hebdo Murders
Here is another good piece on the attack in France that a friend sent my way. This piece is in the New Yorker.
One of the reasons I find this kind of attack so troublesome is that it is a direct attack on the culture of freedom of thought. This isn’t an attack with a political motivation at its core, as if these were people carrying out an attack in response to a particular war. I’m not saying that global politics don’t play any role, only that they are not the specific reason behind these kind of attacks. Whether it is the Koch brothers trying to destroy critical thinking in education, or fanatic Muslims trying to censor people through scaring them with violence, I am against any acts that try to prevent thinking. (And I am not equating the two. As much as I dislike what the Koch brothers are trying to do to public education, it is nowhere near as perverse as violence carried out against people in the name of religion.) Having the freedom to think through things, to have an open debate, even if it occasionally leads to places people don’t want to go, is crucial to creating a future worth living in.
The above article at Salon is about how the Koch brothers have played a role in preventing Ohio from moving forward with renewable energy for the next two years. They are a true threat to our democracy. How we can let these emotional mutants to play such a big role in running this country is beyond me. To paraphrase Klaus Kinski: I hope fire ants piss in their lying eyes!
The above link is to a Huffpo article about an upcoming book about the Koch brothers. It is by Daniel Schulman and it is called Sons of Wichita: How the Koch Brothers Became America’s Most Powerful and Private Dynasty. Apparently the Koch brothers, who are doing their best to ruin American democracy, are also complete emotional mutants as well. No surprise there. Why do we let such animals have so much power? Here is an excerpt where their dad has them fight each other growing up:
In private, Fred Koch “ruled the house with an iron fist” and faith in social Darwinism. Schulman recounts how the former boxer encouraged his sons to fight each other, sometimes with horrifying results. “During one bout, Bill bashed his twin over the head with a polo mallet,” Schulman writes. And “David still bears a scar from the time Bill pierced him in the back with a ceremonial sword.” Those early lessons left a deep imprint on the brothers.
They also like to blackmail each other:
Schulman describes how Charles, unable to convince brother Frederick to sell his stake in Koch Industries, allegedly resorted to “a homosexual blackmail attempt to force Frederick to sell his shares.” And when the youngest twin, Bill, launched a bid to wrest control of Koch Industries from his older brothers, Charles’ legal team responded by releasing a dossier of opposition research on Bill, filled with sordid details of his personal life.
Who needs the fantasy of the Walking Dead when you have these freaks running amuck through our land. Anyone that blackmails their brother or pierces someone with a ceremonial sword should be locked up. Instead, they are running our country!
P.S. If poor people acted like that they would crucify them!
