The above New York Times article is the best review I’ve seen yet of Brian Wilson’s new album, No Pier Pressure, based on what I have heard of the record so far. All of the other reviews I have read have been either completely shallow, or seem to not be interpreting it correctly given his discography. I am still forming my thoughts about the record and will write about it more at some point. In the meantime I think that this is a good place to start reading about the album if you are interested in it.
The new Brian Wilson album, No Pier Pressure, is out. I can’t wait to hear it. I am a Brian Wilson and Beach Boys fanatic. This is a new song off of the album, Sail Away, featuring old Beach Boys Al Jardine and Blondie Chaplin. (Blondie Chaplin was a Beach Boy in the 70’s and has played with everyone, including the Rolling Stones.) I’m so happy Brian Wilson is making new music.
I’m a huge Brian Wilson and Beach Boys fan. He has a new album, No Pier Pressure, coming out this year and above is a video for the first song released from it, The Right Time. I’ve only heard it once, on computer headphones, so I don’t want to say too much. Those gorgeous Brian Wilson harmonies are present, with the bridge especially moving. It’s great to see Al Jardine and David Marks, two Beach Boys, taking part. I couldn’t help but smile watching it. Hopefully some of you will feel the same.
