True Detective Season 2 Trailer

The trailer of Season 2 of True Detective is above.  Although I was slightly let down by the very ending of Season 1, I really liked the show overall.  Having been a longtime Twin Peaks fan, I liked that True Detective had some of that shows regional strangeness combined with an extremely horrifying murder mystery.  Mix in other elements from noir and Southern grotesque and the show at its own thing going.  Plus, the performances were excellent.  Hopefully Season 2 will do the same.

Add On:  I must also admit I have always liked Colin Farrell.  He always knows how to chew up scenery when needed.

Rockin’ In the Free World On Saturday Night Live

Thanks to JR for the tip-off.

I saw this today on a friend’s FB page.  It is so ridiculous and over the top that it is beautiful.  Probably my favorite live album of all time is Neil Young and Crazy Horse’s Weld.  (Note: The band above is not Crazy Horse, but is Neil’s band from the Freedom era.)  That entire album sounds like a fucking jet plane taking off.  I’m not a big live album collector, but there are a few, like Weld and Jimi Hendrix’s Live in Monterey, that capture something primal that cannot be duplicated elsewhere.  Anyway, I got such a big kick out of seeing the above video that I thought I’d share it.

First We Take Manhattan

In case you didn’t know there is an election going on this week.  Time to stand up and be counted.  I’m not naive enough to think that voting alone can change the system.  However, I think that it is an important part of living in a democracy.  The options in front of us at times might not be great, but if you can’t see the difference between certain candidates, than you are blind.  Voting is only one step to making the world better, but it is a step that needs to be taken.  Don’t let the cynics keep you from voting this week.  First we take Manhattan and then we take Berlin!
